small . . . BIG

I'm on my way, I'm making it
I've got to make it show, yeah
so much larger than life
I'm going to watch it growing

the place where I come from is a small town
they think so small
they use small words
-but not me
I'm smarter than that
I worked it out
I've been stretching my mouth
to let those big words come right out

I've had enough, I'm getting out
to the city, the big big city
I'll be a big noise with all the bigboys
there's so much stuff I will own
and I will pray to a big god
as I kneel in the big church

Big Time by Peter Gabriel

big...I'm on my way

I'm On My Way
~Phil Collins

Tell everybody i'm on my way
New friends and new places to see
With blue skies ahead, yes i'm on my way
And theres no where else i'd rather be

Tell everybody i'm on my way
And i'm loving every step i take
With the sun beating down, yes i'm on my way
And i can't keep this smile off my face

every step I take … every step that you take

Lou Christie, I'm Gonna Make You Mine:

I'll try
Every trick in the book
With every step that you take,
Everywhere that you look
Just look and you'll find
I'll try to get to your soul,
I'll try to get to your mind

I know I'll never give up,
I'm at the end of my rope
From the morning till suppertime,
you'll find
I'll be waiting in line,

Baby, I'm gonna make you mine,
I'm gonna make you mine

Ha! This one was easy! thanks!

One of my favorite songs by The Police

every step you take . . .

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I’ll be watching you

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I’ll be watching you

Oh, can’t you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take

Actually, the title is "Every Breath You Take" - fabulous song about obsessive and overwhelmingly passionate love . . .

You're welcome, and let me return the compliment as say right back to you, "This one was easy! thanks!Big Grin"

can't you see you belong to me ... You belong to me

See the pyramids along the Nile
Watch the sunrise on a tropic isle
Just remember darlin' all the while
You belong to me.

See the market place in Old Algiers
Send me photographs and souvenirs
Just remember when a dream appears
You belong to me.

I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too, and blue

Fly the ocean in a silver plane
See the jungle when it's wet with rain
Just remember 'til you're home again
You belong to me.

You Belong to Me; written by Pee Wee King, Chilton Price and Redd Stewart; recorded by many; a hit for the Duprees in 1962 and a #1 hit for Jo Stafford a decade earlier.

Button Up Your Overcoat
(DeSylva, Brown, Henderson)

Transcribed from vocals by Helen Kane, recorded 1/30/1929, from the musical "Follow Through,"
From Helen Kane, the Original 'Boop-Boop a-Doop' Girl: Great Original Performances 1928 - 1930;

Listen, big boy,
Now that you got me made,
Goodness, but I'm afraid,
Somethin's gonna happen to you!
Listen, big boy,
You gotta be hooked, and how,
I would die if I should lose you now!

Button up your overcoat,
When the wind is free,
Take good care of yourself,

You belong to me!

Eat an apple every day,
Get to bed by three,
Oh, take good care of yourself,

You belong to me!

Be careful crossing streets, ooh-ooh,
Cut out sweets, ooh-ooh,
Lay off meat, ooh-ooh,
You'll get a pain and ruin your tum-tum!

Wear your flannel underwear,
When you climb a tree,
Oh, take good care of yourself,

You belong to me!
!

Button up your overcoat,
When the wind is free,
Oh, take good care of yourself,

You belong to me!

Boop-boop-a-doop!

When you sass a traffic cop,
Use diplomacy;
Just take good care of yourself,

You belong to me!

Beware of frozen ponds, ooh-ooh,
Stocks and bonds, ooh-ooh,
Peroxide blondes, ooh-ooh,
You'll get a pain and ruin your bankroll!

Keep the spoon out of your cup,
When you're drinking tea,
Oh, take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!

Don't sit on hornets' tails, ooh-ooh!
Or on nails, ooh-ooh!
Or third rails, ooh-ooh!
You'll get a pain and ruin your tum-tum!

Keep away from bootleg hooch
When you're on a spree,
Oh, take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!

you belong to me . . .

recorded by the Doobie Brothers, written by Michael McDonald and Carly Simon . . .

Why’d you tell me this
While you look for my reaction
What do you need to know
Don’t you know I’ll always be the one
You don’t have to prove to me you’re beautiful to strangers
I’ve got lovin’ eyes of my own

You belong to me
In this life
Anyone could tell
Any fool can see who you need
I know you all too well
You don’t have to prove to me you’re beautiful to strangers
I’ve got lovin’ eyes and I can tell

You belong to me
Tell him you were foolin’
You belong to me
You belong to me
Tell him he’s a stranger
You belong to me

You belong to me...Any fool can see

As Any Fool Can See
~ Tracy Lawrence

Lately she’s been picking fights, dropping hints and just last night
I caught a tear as she slipped off to sleep
She’s not here but she’s not gone
I guess she must be waiting on the kind of man I promised her I’d be
(chorus)
As any fool can see
She’s gonna cross that line
She’s got leaving on her mind
And it’s too late but what keeps killing me
Is knowing I’ve been blind
As any fool can see

Any fool can see . . . killing me

I heard he sang a good song
I heard he had a style
And so I came to see him
To listen for a while
And there he was this young boy
A stranger to my eyes

Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song

Killing Me Softly as sung by Roberta Flack, released 1973.

I heard he sang .. I heard he had a style ... I heard the bells

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

And thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along the unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

Till ringing, singing on its way
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

And in despair I bowed my head
“There is no peace on earth,” I said,
“For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.”

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
“God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth, good will to men.”

Words: Henry W. Longfellow, 1864; Music: John B. Calkin, 1872

All Night Long
~ Lionel Richie

People dancing all in the street
See the rhythm all in their feet
Life is good wild and sweet
Let the music play on
(Play on, play on)
Feel it in your heart
And feel it in your soul
Let the music take control
We're going to party
Liming, fiesta, forever
Come on and sing my song!
All night long! (ohhhhh!!!)
All night long! (yeah!!!)
All night long! (yeah!)
All night long!

wild and sweet . . . all night long

We get up early and we work all day
We put our time in 'cause we like to stay up
All night long

We keep on grinnin' till the weekend comes
Just a pinch between your cheek and gum
All night long, all night long

Start in the morning and get the job done
Take care of bus'ness and we have some fun
All night long, all night long

We like a long neck and a good old song
Turn it up and then we sing along
Sing along
We're all stayin' up all night long

All night long
All night long
All night long
All night long

Nice pun here. Wink

We like a long neck ... why can’t we all just get a long neck

There's crime in the city streets,
Always trouble in the middle east:
How’d they let things get so out of hand?
Just watchin’ the evening news:
That would give anybody the blues.
The more I know, I think the less I understand.

chorus:
Oh, why can’t we all just get a long neck,
And make a toast to peace and harmony?
Why, why can’t we all just get a long neck,
And see how good getting along might be?

I’d like buy the world a round,
In a honky tonk on neutral ground
Where we can see, inside we’re all the same.
Pop a top and let the good times pour,
Til we forget what we was fightin for.
I’ll ask again, can someone please explain.

well - these 2 songs in a row about long necks, it's not an exact word but the concept of beer-sharing (yum) . . .

long neck . . . beer . . .

Well a man come on 6 o'clock news
Said somebody been shot
Somebody's been abused
somebody blew up a building
somebody stole a car
somebody got away
somebody didn't get too far
Yeah, they didn't get too far

Grand pappy told my pappy back in my day
Son a man had to answer for the wicked that he'd done
Take all the rope in Texas
Find a tall oak tree, round up all of them bad boys
Hang them high in the street
For all the people to see

That
Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys
You got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune
And we'll all meet back at the local saloon
And we'll raise up our glasses against evil forces singing
whiskey for my men, beer for my horses

Find a tall oak tree

Tie a yellow ribbon 'round the old oak tree
It's been three long years
Do ya still want me?
If I don't see a ribbon round the old oak tree
I'll stay on the bus
Forget about us
Put the blame on me
If I don't see a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree

That was a difficult one to follow, CW, but i think I've got it.

put in it a box ... squeeze box

Mama's got a squeeze box
She wears on her chest
And when Daddy comes home
He never gets no rest

. . .[chorus]
. . . .'Cause she's playing all night
. . . .And the music's all right
. . . .Mama's got a squeeze box
. . . .Daddy never sleeps at night.

Well the kids don't eat
And the dog can't sleep
There's no escape from the music
In the whole damn street
(repeat chorus)

It's been a hard day's night,
And I've been working like a dog,

I should be sleeping like a log,
But when I get home to you,
I find the things that you do,
Will make me feel alright.

sleep ... night

Hobo Bill's Last Ride
sung by Jimmy Rodgers, the Singing Brakeman
written by Waldo O'Neal, 1929

[Yodel:] Hobo Billy.
Riding on an eastbound freight train, speeding through the night,
Hobo Bill, a railroad bum, was fighting for his life,
The sadness of his eves revealed the torture of his soul,
He raised a weak and weary hand to brush away the cold.
[Yodel:] Hobo Billy.

No warm lights flickered around him, no blankets there to fold,
Nothing but the howling wind and the driving rain so cold,
When he heard a whistle blowing in a dreamy kind of' way,
The hobo seemed contented, for he smiled there where he lay.
[Yodel:] Hobo Billy.

Outside the rain was falling on that lonely boxcar door,
But the little form of Hobo Bill lay still upon the floor,
While the train sped through the darkness and the raging storm outside,
No one knew that Hobo Bill was taking his last ride.

It was early in the morning when they raised the hobo's head,
The smile still lingered on his face, but Hobo Bill was dead;
There was no mother's longing to soothe his weary soul,
He was nothing but a railroad bum who died out in the cold.

Written specifically for Jimmie Rogers & first recorded by him 11/13/29. Many others have recorded it - Gene Autry & Frankie Marvin & Cisco Houston twice for folkways, with and without the yodel.

Thanks, Chielamangus , for introducing me to this fine singer.

cold

I really can't stay (Baby, it's cold outside)
I've got to go 'way (Baby, it's cold outside)
The evening has been (I've been hopin' that you'd drop in)
So very nice (I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice)

My mother will start to worry (Hey beautiful, what's your hurry?)
And father will be pacing the floor (Listen to that fireplace roar)
So really, I'd better scurry (Beautiful, please don't hurry)
Well, maybe just a half a drink more (Put some music on while I pour)

The neighbors might think (Baby, it's bad out there)
Say, what's in this drink? (No cabs to be had out there)
I wish I knew how (Your eyes are like starlight now)
To break this spell (I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell)

I oughtta say no, no, no sir (You mind if I move in closer?)
At least I'm gonna say that I tried (And what's the sense in hurting my pride?)
I really can't stay (Oh baby, don't hold out)
Oh, but it's cold outside

I simply must go (It's cold outside)
The answer is no (Baby, it's cold outside)
The welcome has been (So lucky that you dropped in)
So nice and warm (Look out the window at that storm)

My sister will be suspicious (Your lips look delicious)
My brother will be there at the door (I ain't worried about your brother)
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious (That ol' biddy, she ain't gonna bother me)
Well maybe just a cigarette more (You don't need no cigarette, it's smokin' plenty up in here)

I've got to get home (Baby, you'll freeze out there)
Say, lend me a comb (It's up to your knees out there)
You've really been grand (I thrill when you touch my hand)
Oh, but don't you see (How can you do this thing to me)

There's bound to be talk tomorrow (Well, think of my lifelong sorrow)
At least there will be plenty implied (If you caught pneumonia and died)
I really can't stay (Get over that hold out)
Oh, but baby it's cold outside

Original music and lyrics by Frank Loesser Lots of recordings of it. My favorite is Rod Stewart & Dolly Parton's

No Speech
as long as I get nothing
No Speech
as long as I get nothing
but I got to get home

Saranita, Kalleh, I love it too. They play it all the time in the background music at Borders.

Now let's see what to link with. "Home"? "Home on the Range"? "My Old Kentucky Home" by Stephen Foster? Nah, too sappy. Let's do My Old Kentucky Home but in the Randy Newman version, which (God knows) isn't sappy. In full.

I've got to get home ... Old Kentucky Home

    Turpentine and dandelion wine
Turned the corner; I'm doin' fine.
Shootin' at the birds on the telephone line,
Pickin' em off with this gun of mine.
I got a fire in my belly, got a fire in my head,
Goin' higher, higher, 'til I'm dead.

    [chorus, after each verse:]
Oh the sun shines bright on my Old Kentucky Home.
Young folks roll on the floor.
The sun shines bright on my Old Kentucky Home.
Keep those hard ... times away from my door. [/chorus]

Sister Sue, she's short and stout,
She didn't grow up - she grew out.
Mama says she's pretty but she's just bein' kind.
Daddy thinks she's pretty but he's almost blind.
They don't let her out much except at night.
    I don't care 'cause I'm all right.

Brother Eugene, he's big and mean,
He don't have much to say.
He had a little woman that he whupped each night,
    But now she's gone away.
He got drunk last night and kicked mama down the stairs.
    I'm all right 'cause I don't care.

home . . . higher . . . high enough

listen baby ain´t no mountain high ,ain´t no valley low,
ain´t no river wide enough baby

If you need me call me
no matter where you are,
no matter how far (don't worry baby)
just call my name.
I'll be there in a hurry
you don't have to worry

chorus:
'Cause baby there
Ain't no mountain high enough (picture dancing here)
Ain't no valley low enough (more dancing)
Ain't no river wide enough (arms wide motion)
To keep me from getting to you babe (hips gyrating and fingers pointing)

Remember the day
I set you free
I told you could always count on me,darling
From that day on
I made a vow
I'll be there when you want me
some way,somehow

I'll Be There For You
~ Rembrandts

The "Friends" theme! Big Grin

So no one told you life was gonna be this way. [four claps]
Your job's a joke, you're broke, your love life's D.O.A.
It's like you're always stuck in second gear,
When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year,

Chorus

I'll be there for you!
(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be there for you!
(Like I've been there before)
I'll be there for you
('Cause you're there for me too)

Verse 2

You're still in bed at ten and work began at eight,
You've burned your breakfast so far, things are going great,
Your mother warned you there'd be days like these,
But she didn't tell when the world has brought you down to your knees.

Oh, this one is fun! Big Grin

stuck in second gear ... out of second gear

[sung at a very slow pace]
While riding in my Cadillac, what to my surprise,
A little Nash Rambler was following me, about one third my size.
The guy must have wanted to pass me up as he kept on tooting his horn (Beep Beep!)
I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn.

[chorus] Beep beep! (Beep beep!)
Beep beep! (Beep beep!)
His horn went Beep beep beep! (Beep beep!)

[a bit faster]

I pushed my foot down to the floor to give the guy the shake,
But the little Nash Rambler stayed right behind; he still had on his brake.
He must have thought his car had more guts as he kept on tooting his horn. (Beep beep!)
I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn. [chorus]

[quickly]

My car went into passing gear and we took off with gust,
And soon we were doing ninety, must have left him in the dust.
When I peeked in the mirror of my car, I couldn't believe my eyes,
That little Nash Rambler was right behind, you'd think the guy could fly. [chorus]

[fast]

Now we're doing a hundred and ten; it certainly was a race.
For a Rambler to pass a Caddy, would be a big disgrace.
For the guy who wanted to pass me up, he kept on tooting his horn. (Beep beep!)
I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn. [chorus]

[crazy-fast]

Now we're doing a hundred and twenty, as fast as I could go,
The Rambler pulled along side of me as if I were going slow.
The fellow rolled down his window and yelled for me to hear,
"Hey, buddy, how can I get this car
Out
...... of
............second
..........................gear?
"

Transfusion
by Nervous Norvus

ZZZZZZOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM
Tooling down the hightway doing 79
I'm a twin pipe papa and I'm feelin fine
Hey man dig that was that a red stop sign
(Scrreeech-BANG, tinkle)
Transfusion, transfusion
I'm just a solid mess of contusions
Never, never, never gonna speed again
Slip the blood to me, Bud

I jump in my rod about a quarter to nine
I gotta make a date with that chick of mine
I cross the center line man you gotta make time-
(Scrreeech-BANG, tinkle)
Transfusion, transfusion
Oh, man, I got the cotton pickin convolutions
Never, never, never gonna speed again
Shoot the juice to me, Bruce

My foot's on the throttle and it's made of lead
But I'm a fast ridding daddy with a real cool head
I'ma gonna pass a truck on the hill ahead-
(Scrreeech-BANG, tinkle)
Transfusion, transfusion
My red corpsuckles (sic) are in mass confusion
Never, never, never gonna speed again
Pass the crimson to me, Jimson

I took a little drink and I'm feelin right
I can fly right over everything everything in sight
There's a slow poking cat I'm gonna pass him on the right
(Scrreeech-BANG, tinkle)
Transfusion, transfusion
I'm a real gone paleface and that's no illusion
I'ma never never never gonna speed again
Pass the claret to me, Barrett

A rollin down the mountain on a rainy day
Oh, when you see me coming better start to pray
I'm a cuttin' up the road and I'm the boss all the way
(Scrreeech-BANG, tinkle)
Transfusion, transfusion
Oh, doc, pardon me for this crazy intrusion
I'm never, never, never gonna speed again
Pump the fluid in me, Louie

I'm burning up the highway early this morn
I'm passing everybody oh nothing but corn
Man outa my way I don't drive with my horn
(Scrreeech-BANG, tinkle)
Transfusion, transfusion
Oh, nurse I'm gonna make a new resolution
I'm never, never, never gonna speed again
Put a gallon in me, Alan

Oh, barnyard drivers are found in two classes
Line crowding hogs and speeding jackasses
So remember to slow down today
Hey, daddy-o
A make that type O, huh
Atta-boy
(Scrreeech-BANG, tinkle)

Written by Nervous Norvus (Jimmy Drake) in 1955. Recorded by Jimmy Drake and the Four Jokers in 1955. Went nowhere. Rerecorded by Drake under the name Nervous Norvus, and reached #8 on the Billboard pop charts in 1956.

horn...never, never, never

Never Say Never
~ That Dog

I was blind
As a bat
And still knew
Where you were at
I was deaf
And dumb
And still knew
That you’re the only one.

I could show up
At your door
And still know
What you’re looking for.
I could wait
In your line
And if you had no money
I would give you my last dime.

I never
(never, never)
Took it out
No, I never
(never, never)
Took it out on you
No, I never
(never say never)
Take it out on you.

No, I never
(never, never, never)
Took it out
(never, never, never)
No, I never
(never, never, never)
Take it out on you

Never say never
Never say never
Never say never
Never say never

never\

Oh, you can kiss me on a Monday a Monday
a Monday is very very good
Or you can kiss me on a Tuesday a Tuesday
a Tuesday, in fact I wish you would
Or you can kiss me on a Wednesday a Thursday
a Friday and Saturday is best
But never ever on a Sunday a Sunday
a Sunday
'cause that's my day of rest

Most any day you can be my guest
Any day you say but my day of rest
Just name the day that you like the best
Only stay away on my day of rest

Oh, you can kiss me on a cool day a hot day
a wet day, whichever one you choose
Or try to kiss me on a gray day a May day
a pay day and see if I refuse
never
And if you make it on a bleak day a freak day or a week day
Well, you can be my guest
But never ever on a Sunday a Sunday the one day
I need a little rest
Oh, you can kiss me on a week day a week day
a week day, the day to be my guest

never . . . . Mondays

Talkin' to myself and feelin' old
Sometimes I'd like to quit
Nothing ever seems to fit
Hangin' around
Nothing to do but frown
Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down

rainy days . . . rainy

I Love A Rainy Night
written and sung by Eddie Rabbitt, 1980

Well, I love a rainy night
I love a rainy night
I love to hear the thunder
Watch the lightning
When it lights up the sky
You know it makes me feel good

Well, I love a rainy night
It's such a beautiful sight
I love to feel the rain
On my face
Taste the rain on my lips
In the moonlight shadow

Showers washed
All my cares away
I wake up to a sunny day
'Cos I love a rainy night
Yeah, I love a rainy night
Well, I love a rainy night
Well, I love a rainy night

rainy night . . . hear the thunder

Traveling in a fried-out combie
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie
I met a strange lady, she made me nervous
She took me in and gave me breakfast
And she said,

Do you come from a land down under?
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can’t you hear, can’t you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover.

Is anyone old enough to remember Dale Evens and Roy Rogers?
    hippie trail ... happy trails

    Some trails are happy ones,
    Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.
While looking these up, I found something you may enjoy.
    Roy Rogers Riders Club Rules:

    1. Be neat and clean.
    2. Be courteous and polite.
    3. Always obey your parents.
    4. Protect the weak and help them.
    5. Be brave but never take chances.
    6. Study hard and learn all you can.
    7. Be kind to animals and take care of them.
    8. Eat all your food and never waste any.
    9. Love God and go to Sunday school regularly.
    10. Always respect our flag and our country.

That's What Friends are For
~ Dionne Warwick
[I love this song!]

And I never thought I'd feel this way
And as far as I'm concerned
I'm glad I got the chance to say
That I do believe I love you

And if I should ever go away
Well, then close your eyes and try to feel
The way we do today
And then if you can remember

Keep smilin', keep shinin'
Knowin' you can always count on me, for sure
That's what friends are for
For good times and bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for

Hon, will you forgive me if I change 'friends' to 'friendship'?
Cole Porter, Friendship, from the musical DuBarry Was a Lady (1939)
Recorded by many, but I'm thinking of the one with Bing Crosby

If you're ever in a jam, here I am
    If you're ever in a mess, S-O-S
If you ever feel so happy, you land in jail... I'm your bail.
It's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgot,
    Ours will still be hot.

If you're ever up a tree, phone to me.
If you're ever down a well, ring my bell.
If you ever lose your teeth, and you're out to dine... borrow mine.
It's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgate,
    Ours will still be great.

If they ever black your eyes, put me wise.
If they ever cook your goose, turn me loose.
If they ever put a bullet through your brain... I'll complain.
It's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgit,
    Ours will still be it.

friendship...turn me loose

Turn Me Loose
~ Fabian

Turn me loose, turn me loose I say
This is the first time I have felt this way
Gonna get a thousand kicks or kiss a thousand chicks
So turn me loose

Turn me loose, turn me loose I say
Gonna rock'n'roll long as the band's gonna play
Gonna holler, gonna shout, gonna knock myself right out
So turn me loose (turn me loose, ooh-ahh)

turn me loose . . . holler

I wanna make you holler
Imagine us together (let me see you holler)
Dont be afraid to play my game

Boy dont you hesitate, I won't keep waiting for you
To come and let me take you to my fantasy room
Your gonna like it there and all the things that I'll do
I'll treat ya right all through the night

We can do anything
I'll take you all the places you wanna be (I'll take you there,
I'll take you there)
I'll be your fantasy, everything you want you will find in me
If you play my game

[CHORUS]
I wanna make you holler and hear you scream my name
I'll give you rules to follow so you can play my game
Imagine us together, be driving you insane
You will give into me, don't be afraid to play my game

fantasy...imagine...imaginary

Imaginary lovers
Never turn you down
When all the others turn you away
They're around
It's my private pleasure
Midnight fantasy
Someone to share my
Wildest dreams with me
Imaginary lover
You're mine anytime
Imaginary lover

When ordinary lovers
Don't feel what you feel
And real-life situations lose their thrill
Imagination's unreal
Imaginary lover, imaginary lover
You're mine anytime

Imaginary lovers never disagree
They always care
They're always there when you need
Satisfaction guaranteed
Imaginary lover, imaginary lover
You're mine all the time
My imaginary lover
You're mine anytime

In Your Wildest Dreams
~ Tina Turner

The sun goes down
And the moon comes up
My heart is pumping for you
And a mad thing starts

Never in your wildest dreams
Did you ever get this feeling
Never in your wildest dreams
Never in your wildest dreams
Could it ever be this easy
Never in your wildest dreams

in your wildest dreams...in my wildest dreams

Once upon a time
Once when you were mine
I remember skies
Reflected in your eyes
I wonder where you are
I wonder if you
Think about me
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams

Once the world was new
Our bodies felt the morning dew
That greets the brand new day
We couldn't tear ourselves away
I wonder if you care
I wonder if you still remember
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams

And when the music plays
And when the words are
Touched with sorrow
When the music plays
I hear the sound
I had to follow
Once upon a time

Once beneath the stars
The universe was ours
Love was all we knew
And all I knew was you
I wonder if you know
I wonder if you think about it
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams

Once upon a time
Once when you were mine
I remember skies
Mirrored in your eyes
I wonder where you are
I wonder if you
Think about me
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams
In your wildest dreams
In your wildest dreams

in your wildest dreams...beneath the stars

I love the Moody Blues!

My mom used to love Bob Dylan, so here is a song by him. It is very long so I haven't posted the whole song:

Idiot Wind
~ Bob Dylan

I can't feel you anymore, I can't even touch the books you've read
Every time I crawl past your door, I been wishin' I was somebody else instead.
Down the highway, down the tracks, down the road to ecstasy,
I followed you beneath the stars, hounded by your memory
And all your ragin' glory.

ragin' glory

Brandy used to watch his eyes
When he told his sailor stories
She could feel the ocean foam rise
She saw its ragin' glory
But he had always told the truth, lord, he was an honest man
And Brandy does her best to understand

"Brandy" ~ Looking Glass

I never cared too much for this song (though these lyrics could be the reason Aunt Ina always told me to stay away from sailors). But I was surprised to learn there exists another song with the phrase "ragin' glory" in it.) And Kalleh, yo' mama had good taste. Smile

Ragin' glory...She could feel

Brave New Girl
~ Britney Spears

She's gonna pack her bags
She's gonna find her way
She's gonna get right out of this
She don't want New York
She don't want L.A.
She's gonna find that special kiss
She don't want no sleep
She don't want no high
Oh, like peaches ‘n' cream
She's gonna wish on stars and touch the sky
Ah, you know what I mean

She wants a good time
No need to rewind
She needs to really really find what she wants
She lands on both feet
Won't take a back seat
There's a brave new girl
And she's comin' out tonight

She's gonna step outside
Uncover her eyes
Who knew she could feel so alive
Her M.O.'s changed
She don't wanna behave
Ain't it good to be a brave girl tonight
quote:
And Kalleh, yo' mama had good taste.
Well, thank you, Saranita!

take a back seat ... sittin' in the back seat

Seven little girls sittin' in the back seat
Huggin and a'kissin with Fred
I said, why don't one of you come up and sit beside me
And this is what the seven girls said
. . .(All together now, one, two, three)
Keep you mind on your drivin', keep you hands on the wheel
Keep your snoopy eyes on the road ahead
We're havin' fun
Sittin' in the back seat
Kissin' and a'huggin with Fred.

Seven Little Girls Sittin' in the Back Seat

Be My Baby Tonight
~ Montgomery John Michael

I know you've heard that worn out line
About love at first sight
Well I never knew those words were true
Till you walked in tonight
All it took was just one look
To knock me off my feet
I'm not a man of many words
So I'll make this short and sweet

Could ya would ya ain't ya gonna if I asked you
Would ya wanna be my baby tonight
Yeah I'd take a chance slow dance make a little romance
Honey it'll be alright
Girl you got me wishin' we were huggin' and a kissin' and a holdin' each other tight
So could ya would ya ain't ya gonna if I asked you
Would ya wanna be my baby tonight

huggin' and a kissin' ... sweet

Yesterday When I Was Young (Hier Encore)

Yesterday when I was young
The taste of life was sweet as rain upon my tongue;
I teased at life as if it were a foolish game
The way the evening breeze may tease a candle flame.

The thousand dreams I dreamed, the splendid things I planned--
I always built to last on weak and shifting sand;
I lived by night and shunned the naked light of day,
And only now I see how the years ran away.

Yesterday when I was young,
So many happy songs were waiting to be sung,
So many wayward pleasures lay in store for me,
And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see.

I ran so fast that time and youth at last ran out,
I never stopped to think what life was all about;
And ev'ry conversation I can now recall
Concerned itself with me, and nothing else at all.

Yesterday the moon was blue,
And ev'ry crazy day brought something new to do,
I used my magic age as if it were a wand,
And never saw the waste and emptiness beyond.

The game of love I played with arrogance and pride,
And ev'ry flame I lit too quickly, quickly died;
The friends I made all seemed somehow to drift away
And only I am left on stage to end the play.

There are so many songs in me that won't be sung,
I feel the bitter taste of tears upon my tongue;
The time has come for me to pay for yesterday
When I was young.

Hier Encore was written and performed by the French singer, Charles Aznavour in 1964 and translated into English by Herbert Kretzmer(1965?). It was recorded as Yesterday when I was young by Roy Clark (1965?). Clark's recording reached # 9 on the country charts in 1969.

songs were waiting to be sung ... songs to be sung

You make me feel so young
You make me feel like spring has sprung
Every time I see you grin
I’m such a happy in...dividual

The moment that you speak
I want to go and play hide-and-seek
I want to go and bounce the moon
Just like a toy balloon

You and I, are just like a couple of tots
Running across the meadow
Picking up lots of forget-me-nots

You make me feel so young
You make me feel there are songs to be sung
Bells to be rung, and a wonderful fling to be flung
And even when I’m old and gray
I’m gonna feel the way I do today
’cause
You make me feel so young.

You Make Me Feel So Young, myrow/gordon, as performed by Frank Sinatra

you make me feel

Lookin' out on the morning rain
I used to feel so uninspired
And when I knew I had to face another day
Lord, it made me feel so tired
Before the day I met you
Life was so unkind
But you're the key to my piece of mind

'cause you make me feel
You make me feel
You make me feel
like a natural woman

When my soul was in the lost and found
You came along to claim it
I didn't know just what was wrong with me
Till your kiss helped me name it
Now I'm no longer doubtful
Of what I'm livin' for
And if I make you happy
I don't need to do more

'cause you make me feel
You make me feel
You make me feel
like a natural woman

Oh, baby, what you done to me!
You make me feel so good inside
And I just wanna be
Close to you
You make me feel so alive

You make me feel
You make me feel
You make me feel
like a natural woman
You make me feel
You make me feel
You make me feel like a natural woman
You make me feel
You make me feel....

A Natural Woman ~ Carole King
