Why is it that most people, when discussing a hypothetical situation, say, "...worst case scenario" instead of "worst case scene/ situation/ circumstance" etc? Do we really attribute disasters to the Italians? ;-)

No idea, Asa, but I had thought you were going to ask why we say "making a scene." I wonder about that, too.

I can think of a few scenes I have made in my lifetime. Red Face

Because that is one of the meanings of scenario. From Dictionary.com:
