batrachian must be it, but I confess I don't get the hint. I suppose frogs and toads might be somewhat Lovecraftian, but green canaries? Confused

Canary in the sense of a "canary in a coal mine." Frog and toad populations tend to be the first to decline from the effects of environmental contamination. People exhibiting batrachian features are positively Lovecraftian. Add that to a diet that is hard to swallow--a frog in your throat (batrachophagous?). Well, perhaps I should have just stuck with Kermit Smile

You got it right hab. Bidialectalism - A language having a formal and and informal dialect, or being able to speak both dialects. It's on dictionary.com so it's a real word.
Anyway, you got it right, so you do the next one.

EXISTENTIALISM

And no, no sentence is needed. Sometimes we put one in anyway. (We only do it to annoy, because we know it teases.)

It's nice if there can be a double meaning hinting at the unscrambled word as well as the anagram, but that doesn't happen very often except in cryptic crossword puzzles.

If the vaudeville show isn't funny, was it the ENDMAN'S FAULT ?

(See? It didn't happen there, either. But sometimes there are clues worked into the context...)

Edit: typo
